About St Crispin Social Club

St Crispin Social Club is a private members club established in 1953. The building comprises a main bar area, a lounge, a games room with skittles and darts boards and a large recently decorated function room, with its own stage and bar.

We offer our facilities to members and their guests as a venue for Weddings, Private Parties, Funerals and family get togethers.

We also have entertainment on some Saturday evenings and of course a large screen TV showing major sporting events on BT Sports including Northampton Saints rugby as well as  Premier League, Champions League and Europa League football.

History of St Crispin Social Club

St. Crispin Social Club was formed in 1953 as a Club for Staff of St. Crispin Hospital. The earliest meetings of the Club were held in the Recreation Hall at the hospital. Following fundraising efforts by the staff and funding from the Hospital Management Committee, the present site was secured.

The building was built using voluntary labour and many hours work went into this. The original building was 100ft x 30ft and was opened in July 1959. The Club was quickly self-sufficient and has made steady progress, and today it provides a wide range of sporting activities for its 1200 members and their families. A watershed in the history of the Club was reached when the main hospital was closed and it was agreed to continue as a Private Members Club, opening the membership to the local community. The club is administered by a management team of officers accountable to a general committee.

The club has proved to be a popular venue for all types of celebration with rooms being available to our members for hire. Our large function room is very popular for weddings and birthday celebrations. We also have rooms available for smaller parties such as Christenings.

St Crispin Club has many successful sporting sections i.e. Cricket, Bowls, Skittles, Darts and Pool, who over the years have competed successfully in the local leagues winning several trophies and tournaments. A once-thriving football team, whose history dates back to the 1920’s, became a successful section of the club for many years. It is currently not in operation, but it is hoped that it can be revitalised in the near future.

The Club’s Entertainment Committee is responsible for organising a range of acts including live singers and musicians, discotheques, karaoke’s, quizzes and race nights. The theme is very much family-based with the onus on providing something for all tastes and ages. Entertainment takes place in the Family Bar at least fortnightly throughout the year and is normally free of charge for members and their guests. Larger events such as cabarets are put on from time to time in the Function Room. The Christmas and New Year period is a particularly busy time, with many of our members joining in the festivities with their friends and family.
